Helping the international community adopt and maintain environmentally sound and sustainable practices
With over three decades of relationship building and service, we know that resolutions for environmental contamination can be found only through the integration of scientific and technological discovery, social and political judgment, and hands-on practice. To this end, AEHS Foundation facilitates conferences, seminars, publications, collaborative partnerships, and our members-only online community.

Founded in 1990 as the Association for Environmental Health of Soils, AEHS has provided an international forum for over 600 members, industry experts, researchers, and governmental organizations to exchange information and advance awareness of environmental issues. The AEHS network spans professional disciplines from across the U.S. and abroad including biology, chemistry, geology, engineering, and regulatory science.
What our Founder wants you to know
In 2011, Dr. Mona Behrooz won the AEHS Foundation East Coast Conference Student Competition. Her abstract, “Surface Treatment of Mine Tailings to Reduce AMD Production – Experimental and Modeling Results,” impressed judges and earned her a $1,000 scholarship. 13 years later, Dr. Behrooz returned, this time as the keynote speaker at our 2024 West Coast Conference luncheon, where she shared insight into PFAS regulation in California. Dr. Behrooz, now Chief of the Site Cleanup Program at the Santa Ana Water Board, is a beacon of excellence in environmental stewardship.

AEHS Foundation is deeply committed to empowering young generations to build a better, more sustainable future. By providing scholarships and opportunities to passionate students, we ensure that the next wave of environmental leaders is equipped to tackle the challenges ahead. Dr. Behrooz’s achievements are a testament to the impact of investing in young talent.
